We have loved our bus and our adventures with living on the road. It has been eye opening, it has clarified our values, it has brought us together closer as a family. In working on the bus we have mostly focused on the inside house part, or the engine in the case of breakdowns. We have not really paused to pay attention to the outside of bus though.
We have heard ffrm others that the inside of our bus does not match the outside, and never really knew what that meant. However, after I was approached several times during a day for that herb that is becoming more popular legal throughout the nation, we discovered that we have the same color scheme as a medical marjiuana dispensary! Doh!!!!!!
We decided that while we spend time in Arizona, we would re-paint our bus. Little did we know the process we had in front of us.
After studying many forums and spending way too much time online pretending I knew what everyone was talking about, we finally settled on a plan to lightly sand the existing paint job to scuff it up, then repaint the roof with this sweet, NASA-technology insulating paint, and then spray Exterior paint along the bottom where the current green is.
Now, when I say sand the bus, we bought a 6 inch, 4 Amp sander from Home Depot and then got 100 Grit sand paper and spent ALOT of time sanding this motha down!
After three days of this, and climbing on the roof, we finally got it sanded down enough to begin painting. Alas, rain and freezing temperatures in Tucson, Arizona of all palces have slowed us down. I will let you know once we begin the painting the process.
